Kozhikode: Police have informed that popular YouTuber ‘Thoppi’ has been taken into custody for allegedly pointing a gun at the staff of a private bus during a quarrel with them in Vadakara, in the district.
The incident occurred on Tuesday evening, and Vadakara police stated that the weapon was an air gun, for which no license is required, and Thoppi was subsequently released.
They also mentioned that the bus staff did not file any formal complaint against the YouTuber.
It is said that the bus overtook the car in which Thoppi was traveling. Following this, the YouTuber allegedly chased the private bus, intercepted it in Vadakara, and had a verbal altercation with the bus staff. During this time, the bus employees accused Thoppi of pointing a gun at them.
“Both parties were brought to the police station. The pistol was found to be just an air gun. And, the bus staff did not file any police complaint. Therefore, he was released,” said a police official.
Thoppi’s original name is Nihad, and his YouTube channel has millions of subscribers.
